Ayurveda Spreading out in Malaysia
April 2, 2007
(Ayushveda.com) - Ayurveda, the ancient Indian herbal medicinal therapy, is going from strength to strength. The western scientists have generated a great deal of interest in the science and everyday more evidences of the success of the therapy are coming out into the open. This has made the world at large to consider Ayurveda seriously.
The latest entrant in the list of Ayurveda seekers is Malaysia . This southeastern country has evinced interest in the India ’s herbal wealth of Ayurveda and has taken definite measures to open a hi-tech Ayurveda hospital within their own country.
The Malaysian authorities have approached the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan to get a proper idea on how to set up an Ayurvedic center in their country. The NIA is suitably equipped not only to treat their patients on Ayurvedic lines, but also to conduct research and testing on newer patent herbal medicines. The NIA is run by the Government of India’s AYUSH department which looks after and controls all the Indian alternative streams of medicine. AYUSH is an abbreviation of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy; the main streams of alternative medicine employed in India .
A team of Malaysian doctors led by their Health Minister visited the facility of NIA in Jaipur recently and checked out their infrastructure as well as the manner in which the patients are treated. Apparently, the research and study facilities at the NIA have impressed the Malaysians enough to think about setting up their own Ayurvedic facility in collaboration with the NIA.
The NIA authorities, on their part, are very pleased and hopeful about the recent turn of events. They assisted the Malaysians in full measure to take a proper tour of their facilities and see it in its full operation. The Malaysians evinced special interest in the methodology used in curing patients (with herbal drugs and not harmful antibiotics) and also by the pharmacy that stocked almost all of the Ayurvedic medicines used in regular curative therapies. Apart from the classical Ayurvedic medicines, the pharmacy also stocks about 125 patented medicines that are the unique products of NIA itself. The Malaysians were also impressed to see the hospital where NIA housed its patients and looked after them till they healed.
All in all, it was a very fruitful affair for both the NIA as well as the Malaysian fraternity. There is all possibility of the wheels getting into motion pretty soon and the first Ayurvedic facility beginning operations in Malaysia |
