Govt's help for promotion of Ayurveda

NEW DELHI: Seeing the growing demand of alternative medicine in US and Europe, the Indian government is planning to promote export of herbal drugs. The government will help herbal products from homegrown medicine systems in meeting regulatory requirements in US, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Pharmexcil, the pharmaceutical industry export promotion council, has been asked by the Department of Ayush (ayurveda, unani, siddha and homeopathy) to draft strategy to promote export of those herbal drugs which run into regulatory roadblocks in countries like US, UK, Canada and Australia.
